weekly loves : january { week 3 }

Hi y'all! Wow... what a week. Did you know that Monday was Blue Monday? Evidently, it's the most depressive day of the year. The holiday decorations are down, families are gone, the holiday bills are coming in, resolutions are already broken, and all in all, it's just a bummer of a day. Weird huh? This week, my Monday wasn't so bad. I went to the doctor and got some meds for this coughing thing that's been going on with me, and my internet was down all day so I couldn't work. Instead, I just got to be productive around the house, and watched some tv... not too shabby. Take that Blue Monday! If only the rest of my week could have been as good....

I don't know what happened with the rest of the week... it just didn't realize that Monday was the only day allowed to be a bummer. Soooo... glad it's Friday, and the weekend is ahead, and that today is a new day that I haven't messed up yet. Am I right? Don't you feel like that sometimes too?

But even with a slightly downer of a week, there are still some things that I loved about it...

I love movie nights with the hubby. Seriously? I love putting the kiddos in bed, curling up on the couch for a couple hours, munching on popcorn and getting lost in a movie. And sometimes "secret texting" a friend your most awesome of ideas, am I right Ashley? ;) haha!

I love Valentine's Day and all the lovey dovey stuff that comes with it. I've always loved V-Day, but every year I seem to get more and more into each holiday that comes around. Monday, when I couldn't work, I took advantage of two napping boys and caught up on Grey's Anatomy and strung these hearts on some pretty ribbon and hung them in my kitchen window. You can actually order your own hearts from my dear friend Lindsay. They are awesome and you can do SOO many things with them. I used to have a most lovely little blue spruce (aptly named Bruce) in the front yard of our old home that I would decorate for various holidays and seasons, but here, I don't have a Bruce, so I had to come up with a different way to hang my pretty little hearts.

I love getting to spend time with friends! Wednesday evening I did NOT feel like cooking, so we went to Lalito's for dinner. While there we met up with some friends and got to catch up with them while eating. They'd been gone on vacation for the past week, so it was good to visit with them again.

Let's be clear, I do not love cough syrup. At all! It's usually a fight between Joey and I when I have to take it. He thinks I'm being a wuss, I think he isn't being very sympathetic and loving. But, the first morning after taking Nyquil.... ohhh.. I loved that! I hadn't slept so well in I don't know how long! So good for you Nyquil, good for you for not being 100% terrible. And I love you for that.

I love (and kinda hate) how big the boys are getting. BB wants to do everything and it's kinda awesome how much he can do, and also mind-boggling to think of how fast he's developing now.

I love Indian Tacos!!! I used to get them at least once a year at our annual Choctaw Pow-Wow (yep, that's a real thing) (oh, and yes, I am part Choctaw, even though I don't look it) but I haven't had one in probably 6-7 years. So I decided to just make some. Last night I made the fry bread and gathered the fixin's and mmmmm... it was delicious!

Those are just some of the things that I love this week... what do you love this week?

  2. I hate cough syrup too! I used to fight with my mother when I was younger all the time. I didn't know that this past Monday was the saddest Monday of the year. It really wasn't that bad for me either. Those tacos look great! Hope you feel better.

  3. Aw, thanks! :)

    My husband is TERRIBLE about cough syrup! I think the kids are better than him. I need to get out the cough syrup- we have a whole houseful of coughing kids.

    By the way, I took a nice, relaxing BATH today! The plus side of sick kids is that they nap a lot, so I took advantage of that one. :)
