13 in 2013 : the introduction and the list
Hi y'all! This time last year I was all inspired to create a list of 12 various goals/projects that I wanted to complete in the year 2012. You can read all about them HERE, or the basic summary is, some of them I did really well, some I gave up on completely. But at the end of the new year, I felt I had learned more about myself, done things that I really enjoyed, and become a better person. I had wanted 2012 to be a year of accomplishing things and it turned out to be just that. I think I really accomplished a lot.
So this year, I'm doing it again. But, since it's 2013, I'm upping the ante a bit and going to 13 various goals and projects that I want to accomplish in 2013. And here's my list :
___ 1. Go on a vacation with just Joey. (We never went on a honeymoon trip and have never been on any sort of a trip that didn't involve taking children, work, or seeing family. I want to go on a real honeymoon.)
___ 2. Pay off 2 more debts. (Paying off 2 debts was my goal last year, I'm carrying this one forward and hoping to pay off 2 more debts. Maybe we'll be debt-free by 2015!?!?)
___ 3. Increase our savings account. (Becoming more financially stable and secure is one of my big goals. And to meet that goal, I have to set smaller goals, like this one.)
___ 4. Finish decorating the boys' rooms 100%. (I'm the queen of starting projects. Finishing them is another story, but I can start just about anything. This year, I want both of the boys' rooms to be 100% complete. It's time to get them done so I can do a big reveal on here!!)
___ 5. Makeover 2 other rooms. (Again... Queen of Starting Projects right here! Time to stop talking about doing things, and actually getting them done!)
___ 6. Exercise more & exercise consistently. (I always do great at exercising in March-May. Then June hits. With its absolutely horrific heat that carries on through September. Then its October and I just keep thinking that well the holidays are coming up so no need really to get re-motivated to work out. Well, no more. Time to stay motivated throughout the year. It's time to get a new body in 2013.)
___ 7. Lose 30 pounds. (I can do this. If I keep up with #6.)
___ 8. Run a 5K. (I've already signed up to "wog" [walk + jog] a 5K in March. Plus, this will help with my #6 & #7.)
___ 9. Try 4 new things every month. (I've decided that I'm very vanilla.... very beige. Time to mix things up, step outside of my comfort zone and try some new things. From new recipes, new restaurants, new foods, new books, new dishes, to new towns, new experiences. It's about experiencing things for myself and not just hearing/reading about them.)
___ 10. Read the Bible in one year. (I did good at this one for a while last year. And I think it's a good goal to have every year, so I'm keeping this one from last year.)
___ 11. Write more. (I love writing. It's one reason I keep this blog going, because I love having an outlet for my writings. But I have this dream of writing children's books, and that's never going to happen if I don't actually start writing. So... time to write more. Also, I'd like to write more letters, blogs, and do more journaling.)
___ 12. Be an encourager. (I love being around people who encourage me. I want to make an effort to encourage more people, and not tease as much. Of course, some teasing in fun is fine, but I want to encourage twice as much as I play around.)
___ 13. Scrapbook. (I've still got some scrapbooks to finish up from our first set of foster kiddos. I'd given up on them because I knew I wasn't going to be able to get the scrapbooks to them. But, I'd still like to finish [I think there's only a couple pages left] our scrapbook of them, and also finish the scrapbook of BB's first year with us... and McCrae too!)
Okay... there's my list... in all it's glory! ;)
I actually had a couple different goals on the draft of my list, one of them being cleaning up my office, but guess what? I did that on Sunday! Completely cleaned my office, it was amazing! It looks like it did when we first moved in, I had forgotten how wonderful it was to have a clean office. And, it's gotten me so motivated to clean more, get it decorated, work on more of the house, and even getting crafty and blogging is easier with a clean office. AMAZING!!!
You can join the fun too. It doesn't have to be huge goals, or serious goals, or complicated goals, just various goals you'd like to accomplish throughout the year. If you do join in the 13 in 2013 project, please let me know!!! I'd love to follow your journey and help you stay accountable if you need it. :)
All I know is 2013 is going to be the year for finishing things and becoming a more well-rounded person. I'm excited!! Aren't you?!?!
