12 in 2012 : an update part two

Hi y'all! Oh mylanta, it's already April! 3 months are gone from this year which means are year is already 1/4 of the way over. Also, just in case you are one of the Christmas-crazed people that I am... only 266 days left till Christmas! :)

Well, it's been a while since I've done an update and I thought it was time I get one done. So here we go:

___ 1. Learn how to make fabric flowers successfully.
I still haven't tried this yet, but I did a search last weekend and found a great tutorial. Maybe this week or next weekend I'll have time to play around with this. I've just been using my free time to work on stuff for the Etsy shop.

___ 2. Read "Gone With the Wind"
Okay... so here's a little confession. I googled "Gone With the Wind" and read the summary of the book and... I'm not really that interested in reading it anymore. I still want to read it, it is a classic after all, but I'm not as excited about reading it as I was. I don't know if I'll end up completing this goal this year. Maybe I should buy it soon and see if that motivates me at all...

___ 3. Have a savings account with a balance that never dips below $500. (We've got it right now, let's see if we can keep it.)
Well, after two trips to Oklahoma, we had to dip into our savings. That's pretty much a bummer, but I fully believe that we will have that money back in our savings in just a few months. :) I'm tightening the extra-spending for us, and will be using that extra-spending money to build up the savings account again.
___ 4. Lose 30 pounds. (I reset my Weight Watchers [WW] account today, I'm ready to start again!)
Okay... another confession. I haven't really been doing Weight Watchers. In fact, I'm considering cancelling my Weight Watchers account because I rarely use it. I think it's a great program, I just don't want to take the time to record everything I eat, drink and do. Plus, even without doing Weight Watchers, I've been watching what I eat and am SOOO excited to say that I've lost 14 pounds!!! YIPPEE!! One thing that I think is really helping is our new eating habits. I heard this from a friend on twitter who's SIL swears by it, and it's pretty true I have to say. Eat like a king for breakfast, a prince for lunch and a pauper for dinner. Granted, sometimes the king and prince meals switch, but I've really been trying to consume the bulk of my calories early in the day, and only having a sandwich, cereal, fruit or something light for dinner. And I guess the scale speaks for itself. :) I'm almost half-way to my goal weight-loss for the year. :)

___ 5. Run a 5K (oh Lord, help me.)
Haven't started training for this. But, I'm going to set some mini-goals and plan to go for a walk/jog/run at least 3 times a week. :) With the weather warming up nicely, I know I can do this. :)

___ 6. Purge my life & home of things that aren't beautiful and/or necessary.
This has been one of my favorite goals! I've just been working on stuff here and there for a few hours each weekend. Things are looking great! The only problem is I have a whole bunch of clothes and things that I need to get rid of. Garage Sale? Ebay? Goodwill? I don't know. But I need to figure something out. :)

___ 7. Prioritize my time, organize my home.
Last time I wrote that I was doing good at organizing, but not so good at prioritizing. This time, I'm doing pretty good at both. I think I'm getting quite a bit organized in my home, and I feel like I'm doing a better job of prioritizing my time. I give myself some me-time, and I make sure to have some BB-time. Joey and I haven't had much us-time, but we're hoping to go on a date this week. That will be so nice. :)

___ 8. Work on my children's book/game ideas.
Not really done much with this... maybe I should revisit my notebook of ideas. Seriously. I have a notebook with lots of ideas in it. I might need to check in to this again soon. :)

___ 9. Pay off at least 2 "dumb" debts. (like credit cards, etc.)
In progress. Not completed yet.

___ 10. Read the entire Bible in one year.
In progress. I got really behind with my daily readings, but I'm working on catching back up with everything and I'm still really enjoying this goal. I can tell a difference in my life already. :)

___ 11. Take more pictures.
Yes. Mainly thanks to Instagram and my iPhone. I do take a lot of pictures. I still need to sort, edit and get some pictures printed soon.

___ 12. Write more. (journaling, blogging, letters)
Blogging? Yes. Writing in my journal? Yes. Letters? Yes. So far I'm doing good with this one. I could journal more, I haven't done very much of that. Although a lot of the times when I journal I start thinking about BB and the possibilities of him leaving and I become an emotional wreck so I just haven't journaled much. haha.

Okay, that's the update so far. Doesn't seem like there's a lot I've completed yet, but there's a lot in progress and I know things are happening.

How are you doing with your goals for the year or your New Year's Resolutions?

  1. I did not make any resolutions cause I just don't want to disappoint myself so every night after my prayers - I try to commit one thing to the Lord for the next day.
I have tons of tutorials for fabric flowers IF you need it.
I went to see Gone With The Wind once in the 1960's in a NYC theater. I was bored out of my skull. That is one book I could never read - LOL.
You have some great goals - just don't stress if you can't keep them all♥

  2. 14 pounds!! Fist-bump-explosion. That is terrific Regina! I read that whole prince, pauper thing before and it makes sense the only issue is I'm not that hungry in the morning to eat like a king. I remember barely making it through the movie Gone with The Wind (funny you should bring this up bc we are throwing a GWTW 90th bday party for my g-ma...but that's a whole other story)so I can only imagine reading the book would be a struggle. It's a classic, it's a lovely story but it is defintaly one of those things that was enjoyed more by a different period of time. Great job on your list though!

  3. Wow Regina! You've made some great progress on your goals! And 14 pounds?! Way to go girl!! I'm so wishy washy when it comes to eating healthy. I'll be really good at it for a week and log my intake into my Lose It app. But then I'll totally fall off the wagon! I need to find a balance. Got any tips?!

Good luck with running next week! I hope it goes well! I ran a 5k last year, and afterward I quickly dropped my running habit. Lame I know! I've been telling myself I'm going to start running again, but so far I haven't been able to stick to any kind of schedule.

And I'm so glad you're doing well with your Bible reading plan! It's so important. In all honesty, I haven't read mine in a few weeks. And I can definitely tell a difference in my life, and not in a good way! But hopefully I'll be get back into it soon. I need it!
