new in the shop : another favorite holiday

Hi y'all! Okay, I'm not sure if you can really call every holiday a favorite, but I kinda do. It's like when you're in elementary and EVERYONE is your best friend. (Although, I still see older girls doing this, but that's for another post.) I would probably say that Christmas is my BEST friend. Like, we would each wear half of the BFF necklace. And then Thanksgiving, Valentine's Day and Independence Day are my best friends. See what I mean?

Anyway, I've been working on these gorgeous garlands for a couple months now. [That's how long it takes when you have so many distractions... focus. focus. focus.] And I finally got some of them finished, photographed and listed in the shop. It was a little weird watching Christmas movies and cutting out heart after heart after heart. But you do what you have to do in order to stay on top of things, right?

The thing about Valentine's Day is you either love it or hate it. You have people who are all lovely dovey and embrace the sweetness of it and look beyond the commercialism, or you have the people who are anti-V-Day and instead do the whole Singles Awareness Day (SAD). I'm in the first category. I love it. I've always loved it. It was a magical time at school because our FHA chapter sold items and they delivered them, so I always got goodies delivered to me in class and it was wonderful!

Joey picked this color combo. I think he did a great job. ;)

One year, while I was living in Oklahoma City, I was single on V-Day and you know what, it didn't bother me at all.

What did bother me was when I got out of class that day, I went to eat lunch at my favorite restaurant by myself before going to work. I was sitting at a table, alone, reading one of my books for school and just enjoying my quiet time before the hustle and bustle of working at Kohl's. Things were wonderful. Except for the waiter. Who continuously asked me if I was okay a LOT. Like WAY more than a normal waiter. I think he was afraid I was going to have a break down eating alone on V-Day. Haha... looking back on that I just laugh.

I love this color combo! So feisty!

Best Valentine's Day present I've ever given... about 3 years ago I got Joey the iPod classic in black that he'd been wanting. He nearly died with excitement. I'm not sure what the best present I ever received was. Maybe that's a hint to Joey that he needs to get me something memorable! Although we're hoping that by the time V-Day gets here, we are up for phone renewal and then it's iPhones here we come. Why I let Joey talk me into going from my iPhone to a Droid 2 years ago, I have no idea. I'm over you Android. Over you. Anyway, a new phone would be a great V-Day gift to each other.

What about you? Are you pro or anti Valentine's Day? What was the best (or worst) present you ever got on Valentine's Day?

  1. This was such a cute post. You make me laugh.
I'm pro...I think. Generally V-day hasn't been kind to me. One year someone broke up with me the day before (I think he forgot to get me a gift hehe) so I took the money I'd saved for his birthday and spent it on clothes equaling a sorta good day... and then the next one I was arguing with my significant other, and the last one I was single but a friend sent me chocolate dipped strawberries which MADE MY DAY in a crazy way. We have a love hate relationship lol.

  2. I love equating holidays to friends, so funny! Valentines day makes me happy, whether it's with my man, or seeing other lovey dovey couples, it makes me smile.
