Christmas Traditions : Music

Hi y'all! One of my favorite things about Christmas is the music. It's not beyond me to listen to Christmas music a little bit throughout the year. I love it that much. My step-mom had a ridiculous amount of Christmas cds. After she passed away I got them but honestly, I don't even know where they are now. Most of them weren't that great anyway.

Growing up, I used to listen to "Twisted Christmas" with my uncle and he would walk around school and Granny's singing songs from it a lot. Those songs are so funny! At least that I remember... I need to get my hands on a copy of that so I can share it with Joey. I sing him some of the parts I remember, but I don't remember enough to give him the full effect.

Anyway, like I said, it's nothing for me to have Christmas music playing (or singing Christmas songs) any day of the year. Although Joey does look at me very strangely when I do. But I love when it's Christmas time and I can actually listen to Christmas music without getting strange looks or shunned. Yes, someone actually shunned me a while ago because I was singing a Christmas carol... who cares if it was in October! Something Joey and I started doing the first year we were together and have continued every year is playing Christmas music while putting up the Christmas tree. It's one of the only times I can actually get him to stay still long enough to listen with me and it's also fun to listen to the songs and share the memories that each song brings to mind.

Here are some of my favorite Christmas songs, mixed in with a few songs that take me back to Christmases long (and not so long) ago. Enjoy!

1-4: Because I think the Michael Buble Christmas albums are seriously some of the very best Christmas albums out there! He released a new one this Christmas and I am so sad to say that the day I was going to buy it in Wal-Mart, I forgot my wallet in the car, and I haven't found it since but I will... oh I will.

5-8: Because I love those Christmas Classics like "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer". They give me warm fuzzies.

9: Because I've liked this song since watching "Love Actually". I know some people are opposed to this song... I can understand... but I like it. :)

10: Because I love Elvis. ;) Joey doesn't understand this love... haha.

11: A throw-back to the "good ol' days" when boy bands were amazing. Even though the BEST boy band is still touring... YAY Backstreet Boys! :) (Haha... Ashley)

12: Because Christmas isn't Christmas until Josh Groban sings about it. ♥ Siiiiggh......

13: This is a song I sing a lot throughout the year. To which Joey likes to reply with something smart aleck-y like "it's just jullllyyy...."

14 & 15: From Elf... one of my faves!!!

16: I watched the first season of Glee on Netflix and LOVED it. I haven't watched it since but I need to. And apparently there was a Christmas special episode. That sounds great!

17: Another great song from a great Christmas movie.

18: The Christmas song that makes me cry.

19: One of the songs from "Twisted Christmas"... haha, you're welcome.

20: Because it's my song for you. :)

What about you? What are your favorite Christmas songs? Any of them make your ears bleed? Make your heart leap?

  1. Love Christmas music! I started listening the day after Thanksgiving. My favorite, favorite holiday song is the Carol of the Bells with the Christmas Canon mixed in. Gives me goosebumps every time. I also love Baby its Cold Outside and I'll be Home for Christmas. I can't stand Feliz Navidad, Mariah Carey's All I Want For Xmas Is You, or Last Christmas I gave You My Heart. Yep, can definately do w/out those!

  3. I love so many different Christmas songs that I would not know where to begin. Since I download from iTunes, I only listen to what I like and never hear anything that makes my ears bleed. You have a great selection. Thanks for sharing.
