Christmas Traditions {Ashley}

Hi ya'll! How was your weekend? Can you believe on 12 days left until Christmas?!?!?!?! HOLY COW!!! I'm officially done with my Christmas shopping. YAY! I've got a few things still to wrap though. I also need to get birthday gifts for some December/January birthdays. Good golly! lol!

Anyway, are you in the midst of some of your Christmas traditions? Is the tradition you're most looking forward to coming up soon? Last night we had a Christmas Party at the church and I can already tell that is going to become one of my favorite traditions. I had so much fun! But more on that later. ;)

Today I'm really excited because my guest blogger is a good real life friend of mine. Ashley and I met in college and she is definitely one of the sweetest people I've ever met.   I'm so thankful for all of the social media outlets and texting that has enabled Ashley and I to reconnect and keep in touch. YAY! And without any further introduction, here's Ashley sharing her favorite family Christmas tradition

Hey y'all!
I'm Ashley, and I blog over at Ashley's Carnival Ride.

I was ridiculously excited when Regina asked me to guest post for her! I have to tell y'all, I am incredibly blessed because I get to be friends with Regina in real life!

Yep! How awesome is that? Regina is by far one of the most amazing girls I have ever met, and I'm thankful to call her a friend. We met at a bible study group in college and have been friends ever since!

I'm here today to talk about one of my family's favorite Christmas traditions. Every year, everyone in our family picks out a new Hallmark ornament to represent that year. We always make sure to pick an ornament that is dated.

This was my very first Christmas ornament, dated 1986!

A few of my favorites:

Momma and Daddy's first Christmas together.

My brother often gets a Dallas Cowboys or ESPN ornament. He's a big sports fan!

Every Christmas, it is always so much fun to look back at the ornaments through the years. It's neat to see the progression of ornaments and see the different stages of my childhood. It starts with the baby ornaments and moves to the daughter and sister ornaments, then my Tigger phase, LOTS of Cinderella, and most recently cell phones and high heels!

All 25 of my ornaments, 1986-2010.

Here's the one I've got my eye on this year:

I have always loved picking out fun ornaments for our Christmas tree. I hope to continue this tradition with my own children someday.

Aww... that sounds so wonderful! That makes me wish my family had done that and it also makes me want to do that with my own kiddos. How fun would it be for them to look back and see all their ornaments!

Thank you so much Ashley for being my guest blogger today and my friend everyday!!

Do you do an ornament tradition as well? If so I want to hear about it! How long have you been doing it? Who all is involved? Or is this something you want to start soon now that you've heard about it from Ashley?

  1. Awww....I remember growing up and my grandparents use to always buys each of us a new ornament to represent that year! Gee, I had forgotten about that so thanks for reminding me of such a lovely memory:)
