Tour of Home : Private Spaces {photo frenzy}

Hi ya'll! Welcome to the 2nd (and final) part of my Tour of Homes. This week we're doing Private Spaces. {If you missed Public Spaces, be sure to go back and check it out!} And don't forget to visit Jenna's blog as well to see her Tour of Homes. Her home is brand-spanking new and just gorgeous! You'll want to go check it out. Really, you want to. ;)

Okay, with the formalities out of the way, time to get started!

{front bathroom}

The previous lady of the house is from Oregon, so the front bathroom was done in white and lighthouses as her connection to her home. I'm sure it was extremely cute, but just not for me. It's a very large bathroom, very spacious and roomy. Unless we have more than two girls when we have kids, we should be perfectly fine. ;)

I do have plans for this bathroom. But it's probably going to have to wait until our other house sells. Here's an inspiration board of what I'm thinking for the makeover:

Front Bathroom Makeover

The Low-Budget Makeover will include painting the walls, buying new towels, rugs, decorations and accessories. The color is form Better Homes & Gardens and it's called "delicate gold". It's a deeper gold than the picture shows but that one is as close as I could find.

The High-Budget Makeover will include replacing the cabinets, sink fixtures, light fixtures, counter top and laying tile. This definitely won't happen for a while, but when it does, it will be one gorgeous bathroom!

This is where LG stayed when we still had our foster kiddos. But now I think we will make this room over as a nursery for our future child. Here's what it looks like now:

Of course the light fixture needs to be replaced. And while the stripes are cute, they're just too much pink for me. For our future child, whenever he/she arrives (although I'm fairly certain our first little one will be a red-headed girl) I'd like their room to look something like this:

Pretty gorgeous huh? Is it wrong of me to be so obsessed with chevron? No, I didn't think so either. ;)

{guest bedroom}

This was LB's room when we had them but now, we're planning to make it over into a warm, comfortable guest bedroom. Here's what it looks like now:

And hopefully, when we're done it will have a similar color scheme as the front bathroom. Reds and golds. Very warm and inviting.
Please ignore the large tubs of crafty things in the closet. I do not have a problem. I do not have too many hobbies. I do not have a problem. ;) haha!

{master suite}

Remember my Tour of Homes post last week? Remember how I said you get the raw me, nothing done up and overly fancy? This is how we really live? Remember that? Good... keep remembering that now as you look at pictures of our messy lived in bedroom and bathroom.  ;)

At our last home, our master bedroom and bathroom was the one area of the house where we really did zero decorating. We spent our money on the living room, dining room, kitchen, etc. But the plan here is to decorate our room the way we, well more I, want it. (Don't worry, I've listened to all of Joey's suggestions. And then I've convinced him that my way is best. haha.)

Here's the inspiration board for our master suite:

Bedroom Makeover

I've been wanting a purple themed bedroom forever. I already have purple towels and a rug for the bathroom so that works. The walls will be painted a soft grey with white trim.  I plan to remove those shutters on the bedroom window and replace them with white curtains. There will be a white and grey comforter with deep plum sheets and decorative pillows. It will be very cool and spa-like. I don't want a bedroom with reds or golds in it. I don't want something warm and inviting, we've had that. I want something cool and tranquil. A place that is just relaxing and refreshing to be in.

Low-Budget Makeover will just be painting and buying new linens.

High-Budget Makeover will be buying new bedroom furniture, replacing the cabinets and counter top in the bathroom. All that jazz.

But for now, until we sell the other house and have the money to start fixing up this house, I'm totally fine with my hodge-podge, lived-in look. It works for now. ;)

Okay, that's it for my house. You've seen almost everything. And I'm sure if you follow my blog long enough, you'll get to see the fun stuff aka the makeovers come about! I'm excited!

Don't forget to go to Jenna's blog and see the rest of her Tour of Homes!

  1. I LOVE the purple color scheme idea! It's such a rich and lovely color. Your master bedroom will look fabulous! Don't you just wish your house would just magically transform into the inspirations you have for it? Spending money to do it is no fun! I love the theme of the nursery too. The grey and yellow is so bright and fun! Love it! Your inspiration boards make me want to try my hand at polyvore. It was fun doing the Tour of Homes with you! :)

  2. I've been dying to do a purple themed room in our house as well! That tone of purple in your board is so rich and gorgeous looking. Your bathroom color scheme is exactly what we have in our master bathroom right now....a matter of fact I'm pretty sure those are our red towels..LOL I ADORE that chevron nursery (I share that addiction by the way).

  3. Oh, what a lovely home, even before the makeovers! That's so cool that you shared with us and I LOVE your choices for making it over. It will be amazing!

  4. HEY! I have dressers and a side table and a bad that would match your dresser in your room. Crazy! We have the rest of that bedroom set ;)

    Looks very nice! I can't wait to see when you do get to renovate! Hopefully that will be soon, and you will get your nursery soon :D
