I started keeping a diary because I was lonely. My brothers were all way older or way younger than me. I lived in the tiniest of towns and didn't have many neighbor kids to play with. I was a dorky looking kid with big, red, curly hair (thanks to my Mother who decided to cut my hair into a chili-bowl to make my dad mad, and my Step-mom who decided she would fix it by perming it.... great idea!) and glasses. Orphan Annie anyone? Yeah, that was me. When I was really little I was popular. Then I hit the Orphan Annie stage of my life and was soon passed up by boys for the cuter, less awkward girls. I must've had the most dramatic girls ever in my class because even with my BFFs, there was always drama and fights and betrayal. But I had my diary. I could tell my diary secrets, dreams, wishes, thoughts, desires, stories and it never betrayed me.
Maybe you're like me, and you need that outlet, that friend, that only a journal can provide. Maybe you want to use a journal to supplement your prayer life, or your biblical study. Maybe you want to document and record your thoughts and ideas so you can create them later. Maybe you want to write a journal for your future children, grand-children, great grand-children to read. Whatever your reasoning is, I have a VERY special announcement for you. :)
